Nordisk Vindkraft has built a wind farm on Hornberget at the abandoned Kimheden Mine near the village of Aspliden in the municipality of Malå in Västerbotten County.

The Hornberget site is well suited for wind power production. One reason is that the project is built where mining operations were previously conducted, which means there was already a roads infrastructure in place, making it a natural choice. The site is also extremely windy.

The County Administrative Board, the municipality and nearby residents are positively disposed towards a wind farm in the old mine area.

Work on Hornberget started in May 2006 and the wind farm was finished, commissioned and handed over to the owner, Jämtkraft, in April 2007.
